The Waterfront Lodges

The rescue animals by the car park were a lovely surprise. They’re clearly cared for with affection, and it was nice seeing them around. I did feel their enclosures and the surrounding area could be roomier and better kept, which would make an already positive feature even better for the animals and visitors. Our lodge itself was excellent: spotless, comfortable and thoughtfully fitted out. The two smart TVs were handy, and the gentle under-bed lighting that came on when someone got up at night was a clever touch. Best of all was the private deck over the lake. Sitting above the water was so peaceful and made the stay memorable. The grounds and arrival experience didn’t quite live up to the lodge. Parking, the approach and the general exterior could use more care. A lot of spaces had newly delivered roof trusses in them, so perhaps building or refurbishment work is planned. If it is, that investment could really help. The advertised bar and restaurant also seemed to have stopped operating, which was disappointing, and reception looked untidy and a bit neglected. Those details give a first impression that’s below the standard of the accommodation. The lakeside setting and comfortable, modern lodges are already a strong foundation, and it feels like a lot has gone into the guest experience. With some attention to the site and facilities, Waterfront Lodges could become a genuinely exceptional destination. Even with those reservations, I enjoyed my visit and would happily return. The location and accommodation are well worth staying for.

The lake, sunrise and birds were lovely to watch from the hot tub, which we used both morning and evening. Our one-night stay in a two-bed hot tub water lodge was cosy, with a really comfortable bed. I was impressed by the size of the lodge and all the lighting. It could do with freshening up, though. The walls could be repainted a solid white, the sofas cleaned, and an air diffuser might help with the musty smell when you first walk in. Still, I’d definitely recommend it. It was nice to have some quiet time close to home and see a different bit of countryside ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The view was beautiful, and the decking and hot tub were well maintained. We booked this as a treat for my partner’s 40th birthday and had a wonderful time. The room was clean and had everything we needed. There are friendly animals you can feed, with fish and animal food available to buy at reception, and all the staff were lovely. Highly recommended. We’ll 100% be back, thank you all xx

I didn’t expect much for the price, but the place really surprised me. It was quiet and relaxing, and the bathroom and room were great. All the LEDs made the room feel especially calming. I’ve found myself a new hideout and will definitely return. Thanks, Waterfront Lodges. You have a wonderful place.
