For under £50, we got a comfortable night and cooked breakfast for two, which was excellent value. We were there as a couple for one night, and the friendly, helpful reception team made us feel welcome throughout. Nothing to complain about, and we’d gladly come back. The room had everything we needed for a short stay. Wakefield Cathedral was a nice view even on a grey day, and the central location made it easy to get around. The station is about a 10-minute walk away. There was plenty of choice at the hot breakfast. The sausages and bacon were cooked through nicely, unlike at most hotels in this category, and the mug of Yorkshire tea was piping hot. Just right. On-site parking is limited, but there are several nearby car parks that are often cheaper and just as handy. Southgate car park is around the corner and costs £6 for 24 hours. A straightforward, welcoming hotel in a very convenient spot.

We had a good stay over the festive period. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and staff were happy to help with anything we asked for. Parking is very limited, but if you get a space it costs £7.50 overnight. Breakfast was included and really nice. We’d definitely stay again.

The room was fresh, comfortable and really nice, and the location is fantastic, just a two-minute walk from the bars and shops. Breakfast was a tasty buffet with cereal, fruit and a full English. You have to book a time slot because the breakfast area is small. The coffee machine was broken, which was my only complaint, but I made do with tea and fresh fruit juice.

We had a great time in Wakefield, and the staff were especially helpful. Someone had parked in a way that blocked our car in, and we needed to leave early, so it was a real problem. The staff quickly found out which hotel guest owned the other car and got ours unblocked. Thank you.

A clean, comfortable room, friendly staff and a very good free breakfast made this good value. Parking was £7 for 24 hours, which is less than I’ve paid elsewhere. The Barbata Hepworth Gallery is close by and well worth a visit, especially on a cold, rainy day in February.
