Our group of ladies loves dancing, and we book the December party night every year for our Christmas celebration. It never disappoints. The service was brilliant, the food was great and the DJ was fantastic. They always put in outstanding work to make the night special. I'd highly recommend it for celebrations and all ages.

On this visit, a wedding party had a disco that went on until 12, and the noise in room 19 was deafening. It was LOUD!!!! It would help to let guests know when booking if a disco is happening, so they can decide whether to stay, and maybe offer ear protection. We love The Lion. The staff are delightful and nothing is too much trouble. The food is good too.

We stayed for one night and found the staff very friendly and welcoming. Nothing seemed like too much trouble, the pizzas were spot on, and the continental breakfast was more than enough. It's well placed for the town centre and other activities. The room could use a little TLC, but it wasn't a major issue and didn't spoil our stay. We'd stay again when we're back in belper.

The room was clean, but really noisy. Maybe we were above the extractor fans and next to the bar. Great location and town, and it was lovely visiting somewhere new.

Christmas 2025 was a real shame. The meal was fairly decent, but the after party left me extremely disappointed. I'd paid for a house DJ and disco, not a line dancing lesson. Pom fit Christmas party took over, with the instructor wearing DJ headphones and running a fitness class. Other guests were there celebrating birthdays, Christmas and putting 2025 behind them. The Pom fit instructor was allowed to take over, and there was no room to dance. We're all entitled to party.
