Hampton by Hilton Birmingham Broad Street

The complimentary breakfast was nice, but the room itself made for an unpleasant stay. My family and I usually come to Birmingham twice a month and stay at Holiday Inn. We tried Hampton by Hilton for a change, and I was disappointed. At check-in we were given a disabled access room. Reception said I'd booked that rather than a family room, so I accepted the explanation and went back. Later we found that the bathroom door was damaged and wouldn't close properly, leaving no real privacy when using the toilet. That should have been found and repaired before the room was assigned. We expect basic comfort and maintenance, especially as regular visitors to Birmingham. I hope this is looked into and action is taken to prevent the same problem for other guests.

Clean rooms and a good night's sleep, with friendly staff. The hotel layout is a little odd: reception is on the third floor, and the elevators don't all go to the same place. I found a bit of a queue at reception whenever I was there.

We only stayed one night, but I'd definitely come back. The room was perfect and clean, the shower was amazing, and the beds were very comfortable. Staff welcomed us on arrival and were very helpful at breakfast. The food was okay. We didn't like the scrambled egg, which had a strange taste and texture, but the other choices were perfect. My only real gripe was the lift, which seemed to have a mind of its own and went wherever it felt like, lol. It was a pleasant stay.

The breakfast is fantastic, with something for everyone and everything available. Staff are welcoming and accommodating, and the rooms are okay. The toilet setup is really unusual. From the bar or restaurant on the 3rd floor, you have to walk quite a way up to the 4th floor to use the loo. The hotel is on Birmingham's busiest nightlife road, so you can hear music from pubs and clubs until after 3 in the morning.
