We stopped here on the way back as well as on our trip up, using it as a handy “Halfway to Scotland” break to stretch our legs and have a cuppa. Everyone was very friendly, and the food and drink were fairly priced. There's a bar and rooms too if you need them. I'll definitely stop again when I'm up that way.

It's a nice place to stop for food when you're travelling, or just fancy a meal. The Sunday carvery is nice. It's out in the middle of nowhere, but sits on the route from lanchester towards places like barnard castle, bishop auckland and raby castle. I'd recommend stopping to rest and get some scran on your journey.

We dropped in on spec for something to eat before heading to nc500, and what a gem. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, the food was delicious, and dogs are welcome too. We'll definitely be back.

We stopped for lunch while passing through town. The food was good and fairly priced, and the staff were really helpful and nice. If we're in town again, we'll stop in.

Beside A68, this is a wonderfully quirky, good value stopover. I really enjoyed staying here. The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful, and the food was proper comfort food. It might not suit everyone, though.
