Premier Inn Blackpool East - M55 J4

Handy enough for a stopover, with a comfortable bed, an onsite pub and staff who were always ready to help. My room was near the stairs, so there was some noise as people passed, though it settled down once everyone had gone by. The location is on the edge of an industrial estate, quite a way from shops and other amenities, so it’s not ideal as a base for visiting. There’s a Tesco Extra about a 30-minute walk away, but not much else nearby.

The breakfast room is modern and pleasant, with plenty of seating and new furniture. It’s self service, the food was well cooked, and there’s a TV if you want to watch it. We found the hotel easily and there was plenty of free parking. The town centre is about an 8-minute drive. At the end of the road into town, Car Park South is a huge car park. It costs £2.80 for 3 hours and is for cars only. From there it’s a 10-minute walk to the South Pier.

We’d definitely stay here again. The shower was excellent, with strong flow and a good range of temperatures, and the buffet English breakfast was probably the best hotel breakfast we’ve had. The room was pretty standard for a Premier Inn, but a few small things kept it from a top rating. There were no power sockets by the bed, a dead spider was stuck to the ceiling, and the walls had marks; the curtains were a little grubby too. I’d give it 97% for those minor room details.

The hotel was fine, with a clean room that was what you’d expect from a Premier Inn, and the staff were friendly and helpful. There’s a nice pub attached, and it’s convenient for the M55, with Blackpool centre around a 10-minute drive away. There isn’t really anywhere to go in the immediate area, so you need a car. We had breakfast both mornings. There was a choice of hot and cold food, though less variety than at other Premier Inns I’ve stayed in.
