The Albany

The staff were amazing, polite, caring, and clearly working hard to build this into a lovely hotel. It was clean and warm, and the bed was the comfiest ever. My wife and I really enjoyed staying here.

We got a warm welcome and an early check-in, and the rooms were clean. The hotel is fairly quiet and well placed for the square, town and Coral Island. Staff regularly asked if we needed toiletries or more refreshments, and the cleaner was helpful and friendly whenever we passed. The owner was reachable by mobile or at the hotel and tried to sort out any problems. There isn't breakfast, but you can use the buffet next door; it didn't bother us, as there are always plenty of places to eat out. Our last night there was a small leak in the room after very heavy rain, through no fault of the owner. The owner is fairly new, so I think the hotel will become good quality with time. The room and hotel were clean, and the bed was comfortable. After that, I can't say much good. There were no fresh towels during our four-day stay, and we had to find toilet roll ourselves because reception was never staffed. The bathroom light switch was at the room entrance, nowhere near the bathroom. The shower looked as if someone had tried to glue it to the wall with No More Nails, and the whole window frame was nearly falling out.

The location is ideal for tourists wanting entertainment nearby, and the fish tank under the reception desk made that area look well organised. From outside, the place seemed promising, with Under the Sea vibes. I'm a Sebastian fan myself. The TV worked well, but there was a cable exposed through a hole in the ceiling corner. The WiFi was weak and inconsistent, like my marriage and my ex-wife. The room felt humid even with the window open, and the bed was rough to sleep on. The toilet door had no lock, which felt pretty sus. The guests upstairs were noisy too, a real bruh moment. Great location, but mediocre rooms, and that unlocked toilet is still very sus.
