Room 308 was basic, oddly shaped and definitely not very clean. There were hairs and stains in the bathroom and on the beds, and the tiny bath seems more suited to children. The TV was far too small for the room. The doors are extremely heavy, so someone with a disability would need help opening them. Reception staff were helpful, but they kept us waiting while chatting with colleagues and didn’t seem very interested in what we had to say. Parking is a major issue if you need accessible access. There’s no disabled parking, and unless you arrive before 6am you’ll pay £8 for 24 hours at the car park next door. It has no easy route to the hotel, so people go under a broken side gate at the back to reach the front. The car park needs proper access to the hotel. Sadly, the privately owned place doesn’t seem concerned about that. If you aren’t disabled, the location itself shouldn’t be a problem. I wouldn’t pay more than the cheapest rate, around £42, since parking costs extra.

For £81, the four of us, two adults and two children, got one night and breakfast, which felt like decent value. Wifi was extra, around £3/3.50 per 24 hours if I remember right, and parking under the building cost £8.50 for 24 hours. The car park is very small and tight. The staff were really friendly and helpful, especially the breakfast shift guy who kept the tables clean, topped up food and brought extra cutlery when needed. Breakfast was lovely, with an English breakfast, pancakes and pots of golden syrup, jam and butter, white and brown bread, yoghurt, croissants, cereal, fruit, fresh juice and good coffee from the machine. The hotel is right by the seafront, just off the main road, and you can see the sea. We had no hot water in the morning, so had to take a cold shower. I also found a cluster of fake eyelashes in the bed while making it, and they weren’t mine, so the cleaning wasn’t thorough. Still, for the price I’d come back if I visited Blackpool again.

We paid £191.00 for two nights, and the room wasn’t clean enough to justify that. The bathroom floor was dirty, the fabric at the bottom of the bed was worn away, there was mould on the bath seals and marks on the ceiling, and the kettle and heater controls were filthy. The beds were comfortable, the bedding was clean and breakfast was fair. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location works well for Sandcastle and Pleasure beach.

The tram stop is only about a three minute walk away, and the location is really nice. Honestly, that’s the only good thing I can say about this hotel. Before our stay, a family member had left a charger there. We called and went to the desk less than 24 hours after they noticed it was missing. Staff said they’d check and get back to us, but they never did. We called again and went in, and were told there was no charger. I’m pretty sure someone on staff took it home. We stayed for two nights, starting last night. When we got to our room, the bathroom was atrocious. Dirt had dripped over the bath, the taps and handles were caked with soap scum, and the bottom of the bath was brown. There was dark pubic hair in it, and I’m light blonde. Then I opened the bin and found blood and dirt all over its lid. Other guests were also complaining about how dirty the place was and saying it was a rip off compared with holiday inn, which includes breakfast and internet and has clean rooms. The hotel also advertised as disability friendly, but the baths have walls so high you can’t even get in. I wouldn’t recommend it at all. Save yourself the hassle and go to holiday inn or even premier inn. A complete waste of money.

The rooms were clean and the heating worked well during our winter visit. There are great views from most rooms, and the location is handy: the Pleasure Beach is about 500 yards from the Travelodge doors, with the tram just beyond it. Rooms are good for the price. Parking at the hotel is very limited, but there’s another car park right next door.
