We stayed in the Little Skirrid room for two nights during Christmas week in December 2025. There was plenty of room for our things, with tea and coffee provided, and the room was warm and clean. The guesthouse is just outside Abergavenny on the main road to Brecon. The woman who checked us in gave us a really friendly welcome and all the information we needed. Breakfast was lovely, and Alex was especially friendly, making time for a chat even though he must have been busy. Everyone on the team was welcoming and helpful. There are only five guest rooms, which gave the stay a personal feel, like we were people rather than room numbers. We can recommend it, but book early. We'll come back when we're next in the area.

We've tried the Lamb and Flag several times and never left happy. After this visit, my family and I won't be returning. We booked a table for 11 to celebrate some recent good news, but ended up very disappointed. We ordered 11 meals on the Marston's app and waited over an hour, then only seven meals arrived. A staff member told us there were no other meals on the kitchen ticket. It turned out the kitchen had run out of Roast Dinners while we were checking out on the app, and those meals had simply disappeared from the order without anyone telling us. The other four family members would have had to wait another hour while the rest ate. Communication was poor, and when we asked a male staff member in a blue shirt, possibly bar staff or management, about it, he wouldn't make eye contact or talk it through. He kept working, said it wasn't his fault and blamed a delivery problem, then walked off. The food we did get tasted and looked as if it had spent too long under heat lamps, dry and crispy. The pub knew we'd be there for Sunday Roast and had known for some time, so running out by 2pm seemed poorly planned, regardless of delivery issues. There was no sympathy for what happened, and that staff member was rude and seemed to want nothing to do with us.

We hadn't been here for a few years, but really enjoyed our meal this evening. The staff were so kind and helpful about feeding my two-year-old, who has severe food allergies. Thanks so much, we'll be back soon 😀

A handy little place for a stopover. I stayed one night to use it as a base for walks in the local mountains. The room was basic and maybe not as modern as a Travelodge or Premier Inn, but it was clean, had tea and coffee facilities and a hot shower, all I needed, and it cost less while giving the same sort of service. The restaurant downstairs served hearty meals. Staff were friendly when I arrived and especially helpful at checkout. I'd book again.
