Angus Hotels

Breakfast turned into a negotiation over whether it was included in my booking. I kept at it and eventually got coffee and toast, so at least that was a small victory. I'd booked through Hotels.com what I expected to be a simple stay in room 225, but it was more like an escape room. I'd reserved a twin and got a double. I didn't want to share with my brother, so staff spent about an hour trying to find two separate mattresses. While waiting, I was sent to the bar, where most of the drinks on the menu seemed to exist only there. At 5 a.m. a ceiling leak started dripping, a handy wake-up feature for light sleepers or anyone wanting to camp indoors. Checkout brought another twist: despite prepaying, I was told there was no record of payment. I forwarded my confirmation email, but it was still unresolved. I'd recommend it only to people who enjoy solving problems on holiday and have a strong sense of irony.

Breakfast was lovely and very well cooked, though a few things at the cooked stations took quite a while to be replenished. We had a nice overnight stay. Our room was airy, bright, spacious and clean, and there was evening entertainment. Drinks were reasonably priced.

The reception staff were really welcoming, and there's parking at the front and back. The hotel was clean, the location was great, and the spa was nice, though apparently the sauna and hot tub haven't worked for some time. Food was lovely at reasonable prices, and the tribute acts were good. The bar, though, was very understaffed.

We took the bus into Perth for a nice afternoon, with the stop only a few yards from the hotel. I'd definitely stay here again when visiting Blairgowrie. The rooms, breakfast room and restaurant were all very clean, and there was plenty of choice at breakfast. The food was lovely and the staff so friendly and helpful. The pool, jacuzzi and changing rooms were spotless too.
