Our host Terry was fantastic, full of useful information and advice. The Hill Hotel was exceptionally clean and welcoming, and the location was great. We had a great stay and would recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy the hospitality here.

There were eleven of us, and the hosts looked after all our friends so well. We’ve stayed here a few times and will come back again. The rooms are very comfortable and have everything you need, and breakfast is superb with plenty of choice. The hosts are attentive, and the bar is a big plus. The hotel is about 150 yards from the train station and a five minute walk from the town centre. Well done, Hill Hotel!

The gardens and outdoor seating area were beautiful, and the room was lovely, with a dressing gown too. I asked for a fan and Terry got one for me right away. Breakfast was super, and they were happy to let me work in the bar the next day. The hotel is close to the station and an easy walk into town and down to the river. A wonderful night’s stay. Just great.

A real little gem in Dumfries. The building is beautiful and well maintained, the rooms are nice and breakfast is very good. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Couldn’t recommend it more.

Terry couldn’t do enough for us during our stay. It’s a fantastic, homely, adults only hotel, just a few minutes’ walk from the station, with plenty of off-road parking. Tery is a keen biker, which will appeal to enthusiastic motorcyclists. The rooms are clean and spacious, each with different decor, and they’re well heated. Breakfast was brilliant, much better than at the big chain hotels. There’s also a small, well stocked bar with drinks priced very reasonably compared with many hotels. Highly recommended. Booking direct may get you a better rate than the usual booking sites.
