The grounds and location are fantastic, and the staff were genuinely lovely, especially the waitresses. Room service food was really good too. But some things were a letdown. The phone in our room never got fixed even after we reported it twice, and the torn curtains and stained carpet made the room feel poorly maintained. I paid quite a bit extra for the four-poster room, but it had no curtain like the pictures showed, so it didn't look nearly as impressive. I get that it's a castle with a rustic feel, though this was a bit much. The Dungeon food was terrible. I eat steak every other day and know it well, and what I was served as fillet seemed more like rump or sirloin, very thin and fatty. Breakfast was disappointing too, with no yoghurt, little fresh fruit, and porridge that tasted like it was made with water. The coffee was really good, at least. It's a shame, because I'd still recommend the place, but the rooms need better upkeep.

What really stood out was how thoughtful the staff were. We left a designer item in the bar, emailed to ask about it, and when I got home to the States it had been sent back and was waiting in my mailbox. My husband and I had a wonderful two-night stay at the Dalhousie. It reminded me of Ashford Castle, where I've stayed several times, but cost a tenth as much. The remodeled rooms kept their timeless elegance while adding modern comforts, and the bed was so comfortable. You can tell the new owners care, and the staff seem proud to work there. We also met the lovely husband-and-wife pair who have cleaned rooms together for over 20 years. Our waitress Kim, who sang for the queen, had an amazing voice and was a pleasure to spend time with. My massage therapist was excellent and clearly loved working there, and is looking forward to the spa remodel. The food was great, and the staff were five-star. I can't wait to go back.

The bathroom was the one part of our room that could use an update. There was plenty of space, but the tub was narrow and the shower arrangement felt awkward. Beyond that, it was a wonderful stay: the castle had loads of charm and history, the grounds were lovely, and every staff member was incredibly friendly.

Our room was huge and came with robes and slippers, which really made it feel like staying in a castle. I spent two nights at Dalhousie Castle for a friend's wedding, and the staff were so friendly. They also went above and beyond to look after my fiancée, who was the only gluten-free guest. Both breakfast and the dinner after the wedding were great. The castle itself is beautiful, and exploring the grounds was fun. I'd gladly stay overnight again or come back for another event.

We had a very enjoyable two-night stay with our CIE Tour Group. The castle is beautiful, the food was great, and our group arranged a Scottish Evening that we really enjoyed. Our room was very nice, up at the top of the castle after 86 stairs, as there are no elevators. I do wish we'd tried the downstairs Dungeon Restaurant.
