The building is beautiful, sprawling and full of character, and the inn itself is comfortable and old-fashioned in the nicest way. Our room was spacious, with a lovely view from the front, and we enjoyed breakfast in the pretty dining room. The staff were kind and efficient throughout. We don't have a dog anymore, but I’m always happy to find a dog-friendly hotel, and this one certainly is. We had a great stay.

The breakfasts were excellent, with plenty to choose from, and the staff were both helpful and friendly. We had a really good three-night stay at the Wellington, which has loads of character and a warm welcome. The rooms are tastefully decorated while still suiting the hotel's heritage. This was our third stay at a St. Austell brewery pub or hotel, and we'd happily recommend it. Good value, too.
The horseradish sauce was like liquid gold, and the Sunday roast was spot on. We followed it with a Flat White so good I ordered a second, plus the best rosé west of Exeter. Taylor and his team got every part of it right, from the food to the friendly atmosphere and service. Honestly, it was the best meal and experience we've had in years. If you're anywhere within 100 miles of The Wellington, make the effort to go. And if you're visiting Devon or Cornwall, don't miss it. Thanks, Taylor. We'll see you again soon 🔥
There was a band playing outside at lunchtime, and best of all, dogs are welcome 👌🏻 The pub is close to Boscastle Harbour and has lots of seating indoors and out. Staff are brilliant and focused on customers, and the menu and food were both great. Plenty of beers to pick from, though I would have liked a nice Cornish Stout. Definitely worth stopping by for lunch or dinner, or staying over.
After a long walk with the dog through Boscastle woods, we stopped in for lunch. I chose the small fish and chips, which was plenty for me. The pub menu had good options, service was good, and the price was fair. It was quiet on a Wednesday lunchtime, though weekends might be much busier. Very dog-friendly, which is always a plus 🙂
