Room 111 was the biggest problem. It’s beside the waste bins and car park, so there was a lot of noise, including every footstep from the room above. It was hard to relax or sleep. A plumbing issue then lasted two nights, leaving me unable to use the toilet, shower, or in-room coffee facilities. That seriously affected my comfort and convenience. There were also uncomfortable goings-on around reception. Homeless people were using the reception toilets, and some people tried to get free reservations and breakfast, leading to security being called. A few unsavoury characters outside added noise and made the atmosphere feel uneasy at times. There were some positives at Travelodge Bournemouth in February: the rate was reasonable for that time of year, the beach was close enough for a seaside walk, and staff were polite and helpful. Breakfast had a fair variety, though scrambled egg was the only egg choice. I stayed three nights, and would give the experience 2/5. The price, location and staff could have made it better, but the plumbing and noise pulled it down a lot.

A straightforward budget hotel with affordable rates and decent quality. The staff were the best part, especially assistant manager Dora, who was extremely nice. Just don’t expect a hilton.

The family room was clean, tidy and large enough for the four of us, but it got unbearably hot, like a sauna. There was no air conditioning or even a fan. Staff apologised, but couldn’t offer anything else. They were pleasant and helpful, though they didn’t have much to work with. Parking is available but costs extra. The hotel car park charges for four or 24 hours, while road parking charges by the hour. For our stay, the road worked out cheaper since we didn’t have to pay from 5pm to 9am. The hotel is close to town and on a good bus route, or about a 20-minute walk if you’re up for it. It was pleasant enough for the money, though spending a bit more elsewhere might be better. I’m not sure.

My partner and I stay here whenever we visit my family, and we’ve been pleased each time. On our last visit we tried the cafe food, which was amazing and deserves more attention. The sausage and mash was delicious, and I recommend ordering it. Five stars from us.

The staff were pleasant and helpful during my overnight stay. I was tired after the journey, so I stayed in and got pizza at the bar. It was just okay, and £14 felt steep for a frozen pizza. The room smelled a little stale, and the windows wouldn’t open. There was a strong weed smell in the parking area, and the once nice Bournemouth suburb felt a bit scruffy, with dumped car seats on the street.
