The stairs and walls looked like someone had been hurt or attacked there, and nobody seemed to have cleaned or covered up the mess. The whole place felt grimy and unsettling as soon as I got inside. A couple of guests had warned me it was dodgy, and they weren't exaggerating. I’d been called in by the building’s “managing agent” for a job, but they’d given me hardly any information and nobody there seemed to know we were coming. I stayed only as long as I had to, and wouldn’t recommend it.

The room and bathroom were in awful shape: everything was dirty, the beds were poor, there was a bad smell, the towels were torn, and there was no hot water. I’m glad I didn’t come with my family, as the hygiene was nowhere near suitable for them. The trouble started with the booking. Booking.com said payment wasn’t due until check-in, but Fab hotel emailed right after I booked asking me to pay to confirm it. I had to call Fab hotel and pay. After this experience, I’ll never book a Fab hotel again. The whole property was terrible.

The room was stiflingly hot, with no air conditioning. I liked the shower, but I came away with swollen bites that I believe were from bed bugs on the bed. The room itself was okay, and check-in and check-out went fairly smoothly. I didn’t run into the problems mentioned by other reviewers, though I also didn’t see a single staff member during my stay. I’m not sure how this place still has four stars; perhaps they were awarded years ago. The rooms look nothing like the photos, which felt misleading. I’d pay a bit more to stay somewhere better.

The place was fresh and the check-in was easy, and we had a great stay. The property was very accommodating when we asked for a room with a bathtub. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a large TV and a clean, quirky bathroom we loved. The view was lovely too, and the central location put us just five minutes from shops, coffee shops and the water. My boyfriend and I couldn’t have asked for a better time, thank you!

We’d booked ages ago, so I was a bit worried after reading some pretty bad reviews, but the stay turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The room was basic, though very clean, had what we needed for one night, and the bed was comfortable. The location was great, and check-in instructions came by email and were simple to follow. They also called the night before, but I missed it. We parked at the Buzz Bingo car park, a few minutes’ walk away, and paid less than £20 for the night. For our trip, it was great value.
