Artist Residence Brighton

The staff were very friendly and let us check in early, and both check-in and check-out were easy. The furnishings in the balcony apartment were nice, but for what we paid, it didn’t feel worth it. There were no bedroom curtains, and the shutters were awkward to operate. We had to climb on a chair and use a hanger to shut the top one. The building is old, so I don’t want to be unfair, but the plumbing was extremely loud and made it hard to hear the TV or each other when it was running. Cleaning was satisfactory overall. The bed and bathroom were very clean, but there were big dust bunnies in the bedroom and what looked like old bird muck on the windows. Nothing too serious, but I expected better for the price.

I’ve stayed at the Artist Residence in Brighton before, and it keeps getting better. The surroundings are comfortable and cool, with just the right bit of quirk. This visit, Samuel and Dan looked after me. They’re real professionals, great to talk to, and make incredible cocktails. They’re both assets to the Artist Residence brand. I’m almost reluctant to praise it too much because I’d like it to keep that special ‘if you know, you know’ feel, but it really is brilliant. Can’t wait for the (shhhh) secret bar to open. Love you guys.

Dark and intimate, a perfect date spot. There’s a versatile cocktail selection, and I went for a classic espresso martini. Just the right sweetness. I’d happily go back any day!

A lovely place to stay in Brighton, quirky and beautifully furnished, with a generous feel throughout. The staff are welcoming and helpful. There’s an underground car park opposite, which is convenient but expensive. Still, don’t let the parking put you off staying here.
