The booking agency was much more helpful and refunded me straight away, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here. I arrived for my booking and there was no key waiting at reception. When I got in touch with someone from the apartments, they said the third-party agency had cancelled it, leaving me with nowhere to stay that night, so I had to go home. I later found out the apartments themselves had cancelled the booking, apparently because they may have secured a better rate for my room. The person I spoke with said they had stopped using that agency because they’d had problems with them before. That wasn’t true, as I can see they’re still using the agency now.

The garden studio apartment was very clean, which mattered most to me, and nicely decorated. The shower had strong pressure and plenty of hot water. It’s pet friendly, at £25 per pet per stay, and having a patio garden was handy with a dog. The location is great, five minutes from the beach and ten from Queen’s Park. There’s a residential parking permit for £15 a day, which I’d recommend since there’s plenty of street parking to use with it. Be aware it’s a basement flat with narrow stairs. The garden isn’t private at all, with about six or eight other room windows looking onto it. A small canopy or parasol would give some privacy and shelter from rain. Although dogs are allowed, there’s no poop bin, bowls, or mats. There’s no recycling, just one black bag. A sponge and washcloth were provided, but no dish drainer or rack. There was hand wash but no shower gel, and only one and a half toilet rolls for four nights. The complimentary breakfast is cereal bars, cereal boxes, juice, and milk. I’m not sure whether they handle dietary requests, but one of us is vegan and couldn’t eat any of it. The TV is only viewable from the sofa bed, so a swivel mount would let you watch from the bed too. There’s no mobile signal in the room, and the WiFi wasn’t great, so the connection needs improving. A full length mirror would be nice as well.

The heating was quite good, but the room was really cramped. There wasn’t even one bottle of water, or a shelf or cupboard for clothes or anything else. I couldn’t find anyone to raise these issues with. There was a kettle and glasses, but they needed a thorough wash.

My mum and I stayed recently and had a wonderful time. The rooms were comfortable and very tidy, and the place is an easy walk from everything in Brighton. The owner, Mark, was a gem. He took a lot of stress out of our last-minute parking problem and helped get back a wallet I’d left behind. Thanks so much for taking care of us!

Really neat and clean property, and all the shops are within walking distance. I had a good time there. If you need somewhere to stay in Brighton, this one’s for you.
