Ruby Pub & Hotel

The room was just right, well equipped and quieter than I expected. The pub has a good choice of beers and the menu food is great value. Everyone was very friendly and the service was excellent. I’d gladly stay again.

We stopped in for Sunday roast, not to stay in the rooms. We were a little late for our booking, but the staff were welcoming and accommodating. The meal was lovely, and they even brought out some beef for our chihuahua. We’ll be back!

The woman working there was rude and racist. When we arrived, she told me I couldn’t sit down before buying drinks, even though we were only sitting to decide what to order. I tried to ignore it and enjoy myself. Later, when we’d chosen, she asked only me, a Black man, for ID and didn’t ask any of my white friends. I pointed out the unequal treatment, but she called it irrelevant and wouldn’t say why she’d singled me out. She said it was her pub and she could choose whom to ask. I’m 29 and clearly look old enough. This was ridiculous, and I won’t go back. I’d give no stars if I could.

The food has been amazing every time I’ve visited. It’s homemade, well priced and very family friendly. I’d definitely recommend it! ❤️
