Sea Spray

After a long, exhausting workday, Sea Spray Brighton Hotel was the first place I called late in the evening. I just wanted a warm room, a clean bathroom and shower, and tea or coffee. It was bitterly cold outside, but the room was warm, with a full double bed and everything needed to make several hot drinks. The bathroom was spacious and very clean. Breakfast was included, with loads of choice, and a lovely start to the next morning. The staff were wonderful. It’s simple, elegant, warm, and cosy, within walking distance of amenities, restaurants, pubs, and clubs. The best, simply. Highly recommend, and I’ll be back soon. Thank you, Sea Spray.

A comfortable stay for a reasonable Brighton price, and I’d come back. The hotel keeps service minimal. My room was warm, nicely presented, a good size, and had a good bed. It’s close to both the sea and the centre. There’s no bath, but the bathroom is very nice and spacious enough. One small request: the rooms have lovely names like Geisha, Elvus, and Morocco, but nothing inside connects to the name. A picture or something on the wall would be fun. 😁

The room was clean, stylish, and comfortable, with thoughtful little touches. Staff were always friendly and ready to help with local tips, which gave the place a personal feel. The location is spot on, opposite the seafront and Brighton Pier. Sea Spray Hotel offers good value, and I’d definitely stay again. 10/10.

We paid for a three-night stay and left after two. The room itself was very nice, but the heating didn’t work, and the service made the whole trip miserable. We were freezing, got sick, bought medicine, and were too tired from the poor sleep to enjoy ourselves. We slept in our coats. We only stayed for the first two nights and wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. At around 4 or 5 pm on arrival, we waited nearly 40 minutes for someone to appear at reception. They came only after we called the night number several times, with no answer the first time. Four other people were waiting. Another guest said her heating wasn’t working either. We tried the front desk repeatedly about our own heating, went downstairs and found nobody there, and got no answer from the night manager. Booking.com couldn’t reach the hotel either. For two days, we checked reception throughout the day and found staff only twice. We heard they may also be running a nearby hotel, so perhaps the receptionist was covering both. The heating came on for an hour on the second day, then switched off again. On the third evening, around 6 pm, it finally started working and a man came to check, but by then we’d booked our tickets home. We saw the other guest complaining about the same heating issue on two days in a row, and it seemed hers had been going on for a while too. We asked several times for a refund, and Booking.com tried to get one for us. The hotel refused. We had proof of the unanswered calls, so why would we make this up from the day we checked in? After we left, the hotel emailed to say the heating had been working correctly and that we hadn’t tried to contact them. That wasn’t true. We called several times, and the radiators were set to full heat, not a timer or low setting. It’s a shame, because the room was great. We just needed working heating and for our complaints to be taken seriously, with staff actually present to speak to. They treated us like a nuisance instead of guests and made us feel awful. I’ve stayed in hotels around the country and abroad, and this is the worst service I’ve had. The hotel should own its mistake and have refunded us when we first asked, so we could move somewhere comfortable. Heating is a basic need in winter. If they won’t provide it, they may as well advertise that guests need to bring a portable heater. We weren’t willing to spend a third night getting sicker. I’m so disappointed. If we’d been treated with respect, this review would’ve been very different.
