The hotel felt much more relaxed than I’d expected. I even wore my slippers down to the restaurant and bar, and it really did feel like a home away from home. The building is beautiful, especially inside. We booked two rooms for my 60th birthday, for my mother, my two brothers and me. I was impressed by the staff from arrival right through to checkout, and was pleasantly surprised when the rooms were upgraded to suites for my birthday. Thanks for making it such a lovely occasion for my family and me.

The sea-view room was huge, beautiful, and had a stunning view. I surprised my fiancé with the upgrade, and it was one of the best rooms I’ve stayed in. Definitely worth what I paid. The Grand’s interior is so picturesque, too. We loved it and would book again. I couldn’t get a spa booking for our stay, despite trying, though I understand it may be very popular. The spa was one of the reasons we chose the hotel, so maybe next time. Our neighbours also got very loud in the middle of the night. The staff were great and so was the room. We had a brilliant stay.

A bottle of red wine and a lovely birthday card were waiting in our room, which made my 40th feel extra special. The room was beautiful, with a stunning sea view, and I really liked the coffee selection. Breakfast was excellent, and the lounge was a lovely place to sit with a drink. The staff made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. The check-in team even offered complimentary drinks for my son and me. Everyone was lovely, including the concierge team. They made my birthday special, and I’d definitely recommend the hotel and return. Thank you, the Grand Hotel.

Breakfast had plenty of choice and was well prepared. It’s self-service, with omelettes cooked to order while you wait. Our room was delightful, spacious, clean and well presented. We arrived early, expecting to leave our bags in storage, but were pleased to find the room would be ready in just a few minutes. The hotel is historic and in a perfect location, and the staff were professional, efficient and pleasant. My one disappointment was having to pay extra to use the pool. I’d expected access to be included in the room price. Otherwise, we had a very enjoyable stay.

The car drop-off was very good, and the parking and concierge teams were helpful, courteous and efficient. Check-in, though, was very slow. The food at Cyan was good and the staff there were fine. Breakfast was mostly on a par with the local Travelodge, although the egg station was good and the person working there was friendly.
