The room was roomy and comfortable, the bathroom looked modern, and parking was easy. Breakfast was decent, though there was no fruit and the sausage wasn't good. The end of the stay was really frustrating. At checkout they wanted £29 for breakfast, even though it was included in the deal I booked through the app. I had explained that at check-in, but it hadn't been entered in their system. Even after I showed the booking confirmation, the receptionist and manager didn't accept that it was paid for. The receptionist asked me to pay and said I'd get a refund if it could be proved. I refused, and eventually the manager saw sense. It made us late for a funeral we were attending. I wouldn't stay here again.

The staff were pleasant, and the room was spacious with a nice bathroom, but the bed was uncomfortable. After a four-and-a-half-hour drive, we found out they don't serve evening meals on weekends. We had to get KFC takeaway, which arrived cold too. Breakfast was only warm and undercooked. I won't stay again.

After a long drive and a busy weekend ahead, being met by animal activists outside Best Western Henbury Lodge made for a stressful, unpleasant arrival. They had a loudspeaker and were protesting the hotel's egg supply, apparently because it still uses eggs from caged hens. That's not the welcome I expect at a reputable hotel. SORT IT OUT, BEST WESTERN.

Breakfast was tasty and cooked really well. You do have to choose your options the night before, and there isn't a huge selection, but what we had was faultless. We really enjoyed staying at Henbury Lodge. Our room was lovely, and the whole place felt cosy and inviting.

The duvet was a little too small, so I had to choose between cold shoulders and cold feet. I only spotted the extra blanket the next morning, too late to use it. Apart from that, we had a good stay and I'd definitely come back. The room was warm and comfortable, though oddly shaped, with a double and a single bed for the two of us. The shower worked well, but its fan didn't clear the steam. There was a kettle and tea-making stuff. We were a bit unsure about the bar being outside our room, but it wasn't a problem. It's a quaint hotel in an old country house.
