There’s loads to choose from on the menu, and the food comes out fresh, hot and delicious without a long wait. The weekend roasts are lovely, with vegan and veggie choices too. It’s a cosy pub with a great drinks selection and friendly service. I love it here.

We make the trip from Bristol because the meals are well worth it. The oggies are especially worth trying, though we often struggle to fit in all three courses. The welcome is warm and friendly, and in winter the wood fires make the place feel even cosier. We were recommended this pub years ago, and it’s become our regular spot for a quality meal. The menu is great, with a proper specials board, and everything is always cooked just right.

Since they started serving pale ale on tap, the drinks have been good too, and the food has always been good. I live nearby and come here all the time. It’s cosy and atmospheric in winter, while the big garden and little kids’ play area make it great in summer.

The roast tasted nice, but there wasn’t much veg and the portion left me hungry. For the price, I’d expected a bit more food. Service at the bar was slow, and no one acknowledged us when we arrived.

Breakfast was the highlight of our stay at the Hunters Rest Clutton. There was a choice of continental, full Somerset with bacon, sausage, mushrooms, black pudding, fried eggs and toast, or an American breakfast of sirloin steak, two fried eggs and two hash browns. The coffee was proper coffee, and there was a range of fresh juices. We all agreed it was the best hotel breakfast we’d ever had, and we’re already looking forward to coming back. It’s a lovely traditional rural pub on the outskirts of Clutton, about a 20 mile drive from Bath, with real fires, very nice en-suite rooms, great food, lovely staff and a dog-friendly welcome.
