ibis Bristol Temple Meads Quay

We stayed before a flight and would come back. The location is excellent, in a quiet area but still an easy walk into town for all the restaurants. We walked from the station with our cases, then caught the hoppa to the airport without any trouble. We chose an upgraded room, which was clean and spacious, with a comfortable bed and a lovely shower. The WiFi was fast. We appreciated the complimentary tea, coffee and toiletries, plus the extension cable and USB sockets in the nightstand. There’s a nearby coffee shop and a local Sainsbury's too.

We ate in the restaurant one evening and had a tasty risotto. The room was a good size, bright and airy, with plenty of sockets and USB points, and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel has a modern feel and is close to the station. I wondered if the bathroom ventilation wasn't working, but was told it comes on overnight. I had two niggles. In the name of being eco-friendly, the towels were really dingy. Also, every plant in the foyer and restaurant was dead or close to it, which was a strange thing to notice as I walked in. Even so, I'd stay again.

I come to Bristol regularly, and this hotel is really well placed for the city centre and train and bus links. The staff are attentive and friendly. They recognise me as a regular with a welcome note and biscuits in my room, which is a lovely personal touch.

There were so many lights in the room, and it wasn't obvious which switch controlled what. The bathroom was like a cubicle built into the room, and it shook a bit when I stepped inside, a bit like a train toilet. The shower and bed were good, though, and I'd stay again.
