Broadway is one of our favourite places to visit, and a stop at the Broadway Hotel is part of the trip. This time we stayed at Bumblebee Cottage with our dog. It was cosy, spotlessly clean, welcoming and had everything we needed, plus a bit more. We had lunch at the hotel on two days. The food was up to its usual good standard, the atmosphere relaxed, and the staff second to none. Janis went out of his way to make us welcome and accommodate us. Thank you.

The steaks were spot on, the starters gorgeous and the drinks lovely. The staff were attentive and helpful, and they even brought us a complimentary dessert for our anniversary. Dinner here was amazing. We’d come back in a heartbeat!

The location is a big part of the appeal. The Broadway Hotel sits on Broadway’s historic village green, with boutiques, tearooms and walking routes all an easy stroll away. It also makes a delightful base for exploring the wider Cotswolds, including countryside walks and Broadway Tower. Guests often praise the friendly, warm service and the hotel’s position right on the green. Inside, this beautifully restored 16th-century inn brings together traditional timber framing and Cotswold stone with modern comforts. The individually styled rooms are cosy and well equipped, and each is named after a famous Cheltenham Festival horse, a fun local detail. There are good options for food and drink too. Tattersalls Brasserie serves refined seasonal dishes and has a Two AA Rosette award. For a more casual bite or a drink by the fire, the characterful Jockey Bar is a comfortable spot. You can also have afternoon tea, cocktails on the terrace, or settle in with a book in the lounge. It all gives the place a nice mix of historic charm and modern hospitality.

The staff were helpful and pleasant, and the food was very good and reasonably priced. As someone who’s partly disabled, though, I found access wanting. The hotel isn’t disability friendly, and the lift was the smallest I’ve seen. My small travel case and I could barely fit, then I discovered the lift was for staff only. The room was so cramped we couldn’t swing a cat in it. The fan made a terrible racket and covered me in dust, so we switched it off and asked to move. The toilet seat was loose, and the shower nearly flooded the room. It took ages for the water to warm up, and while I was waiting, the shower head came loose from its bracket and sprayed water everywhere.

This is one of our favourite places in Broadway, especially in winter. The staff are great, there’s a good choice of drinks including local ales, and the food is delicious. In the colder months there are several fires to sit by; in summer, the outdoor area is lovely and has table service. Would definitely recommend. The tourists are the only issue. The crowds constantly wandering around take a bit away from the town and make parking even more challenging.
