The waitress was delightful and the roast was lovely. But there were no gluten-free Yorkshire puddings, and only one dessert option without gluten. Gluten-free choices should be much easier to find these days.

Breakfast was amazing and dinner mega delicious 😋 Huge thanks to the person who served us on the evening of our first stay, 27th Dec. I didn’t get his name, but he was working with a fractured foot. Hope you recover quickly 🙏 Highly recommend!

We only stopped for a meal in the bar area, we didn’t stay here. All of us thought it was the best meal we’d had in ages. The main courses and dessert were stunning, and the service was excellent. Everyone made us feel welcome. We’ll definitely eat here again. Stunning.

The harbour and canal setting is glorious, and the food was very good both at breakfast and when we ate in the bar twice. The second time we chose smaller plates because the mains were too much for us. We booked three nights for my 60th, and my wife and I have both vowed to return. We’ve stayed in dozens of hotels, and this is a firm favourite. We had room 8, listed as a cosy double, but it was a good size, with plenty of space and loads of clothes storage. The bathroom was big, the shower over the bath had good pressure and just-right temperature control, and the toiletries, towels and toilet paper were all very good quality. Those little things matter. One tip: you may want to bring drinking water. They say the tap water isn’t drinkable and provide two small bottles per day, which wasn’t enough for us.
