The Bull Inn

I’d definitely come back. The food was excellent, and so was the waitress. Having parking behind the building was a bonus. I loved the proper home-cooked meals, with enough variety to give me plenty of options despite my intolerances.

The food was good, and the beer was too. I was a bit surprised that we’d been told to book because it was so busy, only to arrive and find hardly anyone there. It made me wonder if they just wanted to secure whoever came along. The gluten-free option was disappointing for the price: they took something off the dish instead of replacing it with a suitable alternative.

We had one of the best breakfasts we can remember, and the pub itself was wonderful. The accommodation felt warm and welcoming too. Thanks for a lovely stay.

The fish was badly overcooked and very salty, the chips were lukewarm, and the peas were black and burnt under a little tartare sauce. I gave up, paid without leaving a tip, and left. Before that, we’d had to try three different beers because the coolers weren’t working, and mango lager wasn’t appealing to us. We arrived early for a couple of drinks before our meal and picked an outdoor table with an ashtray because some of our party smoke. Then we were told not to smoke after someone inside objected, though I looked through the window and couldn’t see anyone there. We also tried to order food, but were told we couldn’t because arriving early would “muck up” the kitchen timing. Unbelievable. It seemed to be run by a bunch of clowns.
