We’ve had meals here as a family a few times, and the food has been spot on each visit. We’ve tried the adults’ and children’s roasts as well as the main restaurant menu. Whatever you order, it’s done really well. The staff are friendly and always on top of things, and the prices are very reasonable.

We've been back for lunch three or four times, and on this visit all of us chose different things. The Great Northern Cheese pie with chips was really good, the veggie Sunday roast was generous and good, and the roast beef with gravy was excellent. The pigs in blankets were excellent too, while the cauliflower cheese was just about OK. I'd recommend it for Sunday lunch or another occasion. The food, drink and service were really good, and the roast beef was as good as I've had. A 10% service charge is added automatically, which I'm fine with, though some people may not be. The Google review form is set up for hotel stays rather than dining. For three people, two courses including drinks and the 10% service, it came to £132.22.

The room was spacious, comfortable, warm and well equipped, with a huge bed. Breakfast was fantastic, made with fresh local produce, and one of the owners served us. They were cheerful and happy to answer our questions about the area. We stayed two nights for the local steam railway gala, and everything was superb from arrival to departure. The staff were friendly throughout. Great location, good parking and easy access to town and the surrounding area. We'll return next year.

We had lunch midweek by the window on a clear, dry day, and the views were spectacular. Service was excellent, and we both ordered the steak and ale pie. It was the best ever, I have to say. We're going back very soon. Highly recommend.
