The room was clean, simple and standard, and there's no pub noise despite these being “pub” rooms. It's right in the centre of Buxton. Still, I thought one night cost a lot, though maybe I'm out of touch with prices now. I'd need about twenty/thirty quid off to feel it was value for money. It's just a clean room at the end of the day. I stayed with my son, and the front is a club. My only other complaint is that the directions to the rooms could be clearer, especially for getting there without going through the pub. There's no parking, so factor that cost in too.

The included full English breakfast and hot drink were good, and there was free-flow orange juice on the side. The pub's reception staff were friendly. I couldn't download the parking app, so the boss paid £10.60 for my three days in a nearby public car park, a three-minute walk away, and I reimbursed him in cash. Sainsbury’s was beside the car park. I booked through Agoda and, after a 10% credit-card discount, paid £260.04 for three adults for two nights in Oct 2025 at The Queen’s Head Hotel. We were on the ground floor at the back of the pub, but it was quiet in the room. It was sufficiently clean and fairly spacious for three, with room to open our luggage on the floor. The bed was comfortable. There was no aircon, but a portable fan was provided. The attached bathroom and toilet were clean, with strong water pressure and good drainage. The wash basin was too small, though, and water kept splashing onto the floor when we washed our hands or faces. Face and bath towels were supplied, and the wifi stayed stable.

The only interruption was a 5am wake-up on Friday, when used glass bottles were emptied into the waste lorry. It didn't spoil the stay. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was nice, and having a hot bath was a real bonus after getting caught in the rain on the Peaks. There's Sky TV with all the channels, staff were friendly, and it's a nice little room. I'd definitely return.

The accommodation was modern and spotless, and we slept really well since the apartment block had no pub noise. It's very central for Buxton, and the pub served great beers. We had a warm, friendly welcome throughout our stay. Fantastic place, and I'd recommend it to anyone visiting Buxton.

The staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful. They had my cooked breakfast ready when I came down, since they knew I needed to leave early. They also locked my bike in a secure room and had it out in the morning without me needing to ask. The rooms at the back are cosy-sized but very comfortable. I stayed on a drizzly Wednesday, with no one sitting outside the pub, so it was very quiet. I can't say how quiet it would be on a Saturday. If you're arriving by train, just know it's at the top of the hill.
