The Vyvyan Arms Hotel

At 11:45 today, my friend and I walked into a pub with the doors open, the venue fully lit and someone behind the bar. After many years in the Royal Navy and visits to plenty of pubs, this was the most miserable hole I’ve ever been in. Within 20 seconds, a woman, with no explanation, rudely told us it was closed. There was no alternative offered. We looked at each other, stunned, like we’d wandered into a musty side street on Goodnight Sweetheart. Do yourselves a favour and run for the hills. The only thing missing was a fall down a mine shaft.

😂 Rude as hell. Scott's daughter in law hit me over the head with a bottle from the bar while I was getting extra drinks, on top of the ones she’d decided to down. I ended up in hospital with a head injury, and then the pub banned me. 😂

The shared areas looked neglected and needed proper upkeep, and the hotel’s cleanliness standards were below par. The decor and atmosphere felt more like a hunting lodge than a welcoming place to stay, with a rustic, outdated look that wasn’t what I expected. There was also a strong smell like urine as soon as I entered, and it lingered in the lobby and hallways. These problems made the stay uncomfortable and disappointing. I can’t recommend The Vyvyan Arms Hotel based on my experience. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and makes improvements for future guests.

The room was spacious, pleasant and clean, and breakfast was good. We were very pleasantly surprised and would recommend it!
