Holiday Inn Cambridge

We paid £109 for a double room, and I expected a basic hotel and room for that price. I was pleasantly surprised. The room was clean, comfortable and well worth the money. The hotel has very large grounds, which give it a spacious, rural feel. A large party was planned for the night we stayed, so they put us in the quieter section. We didn’t hear it at all. Reception staff were polite, efficient and helpful. They showed us our rooms before check-in and provided a wheelchair so an elderly relative wouldn’t have to walk to the room. The bar was smart and comfortable, the service was great, and the pizza we ordered as a snack was very nice. Breakfast was also great, with lots of choice, good service and a smart, clean, comfortable dining area. We didn’t use the gym or spa, and at the price we paid I wasn’t expecting a spa. I’d highly recommend the hotel and we’ll stay again. Next time we’ll try the spa too.

The pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were highlights for us, and breakfast was my personal favourite. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and easy to talk to. The other guests were polite, and my partner and I had the time of our lives. We’re looking forward to coming back soon. I booked two nights, from 30/01/2026 to 1/02/2026, for us to stay together. I’d accidentally picked two different room types and couldn’t change it in the app, but reception kindly sorted it out. After check-in, the receptionist, whose name I unfortunately didn’t catch, called our room to see how we were doing. The room was gorgeous, with everything in place and better than expected. We needed extra towels, and reception took care of that too. The hotel is about 10-15 minutes from Cambridge Station, yet it feels like another world, almost like a dream.

The pool and gym were lovely, and I had enough time to make use of everything available. The reception staff by the pool were efficient, informative, and always smiling. The hotel is in a great spot, and the rooms and surrounding areas were clean. There was complimentary iced water at reception too. I treated myself to a coffee at the on-site Starbucks before leaving. It was made nicely, but I waited over 35 minutes because only one person was serving. One thing to keep in mind: there’s no lift, so anyone who needs help with stairs should make sure to book a ground-floor room.

The beds are comfortable, breakfast is great, and there’s a nice pool and gym. Staff are always friendly and helpful. I’ve stayed here several times over the years for short Cambridge breaks and keep coming back. The rooms have also been modernised recently. No complaints 👌
