Elgano Hotel

I slept really well in the comfortable bed with its big pillows, and the room was clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. I loved my three nights there. It would have been nice to have breakfast available, but it was a very good stay.

For one night, the room was perfectly acceptable: quiet, clean and comfortable, with plenty of sockets and a good-sized mirror for getting ready. The double bed felt pretty snug for two, though, and the room itself was very small. The bathroom's folding door wouldn't shut properly. There was a slight gap where the panels met at the top, so I could hear my partner on the toilet. Given the size, I wouldn't want to stay there longer than a night with two people.

The Italian restaurant, which only opens in the evenings, was a highlight of my trip. The service was amazing, and the tuna pasta special was one of the best I've tried. The hotel is within walking distance of Cardiff train station and Principality stadium, and the price felt well worth the convenient location and good food. My room was very clean and looked newly furnished and decorated. I stayed in summer, and opening the windows made the temperature indoors just right. The shower was hot at a comfortable temperature, and fresh towels were provided. I really appreciated the hospitality. What a lovely stay!

I was in one of the rooms in the small outbuilding behind the main hotel. It seemed newly decorated, perhaps completely new, and was very comfortable. Being set back from the main road made it very quiet. The staff were always cheerful and friendly. I had an excellent meal on Sunday evening, and the restaurant seemed busy at other times too. I think it has a strong local reputation. There isn't a breakfast option, but the pub down the road serves a good cooked breakfast. Buses run frequently from the stop outside the hotel.
