Scott Callan made my stay at the Village Hotel memorable. He was professional, welcoming and attentive, from helping with check-in to suggesting places nearby and checking that things were going well. His service felt personal and he clearly cares about making guests comfortable. He's a real asset to the hotel. I'd gladly return and hope Scott is there again.

The membership cost is hard to justify now. Village Cardiff Gym feels overcrowded, poorly maintained and badly managed, and repeated complaints haven't led to improvements. Staff are helpful, but management doesn't seem to invest or listen. The poolside gets cluttered and unsafe, and children's swim sessions are managed so badly that swimming safely can be difficult. The spa is neglected too: the sauna is often out of order and deteriorating, the steam room barely works, and the hot tub temperature is unpredictable. On the gym floor, weights, bags and bottles are regularly left lying around, creating safety hazards. The changing rooms and showers are filthy, with wet floors, broken lockers, damaged shower doors, mouldy soap dispensers and hairdryers that don't work. This isn't a premium gym anymore, and I wouldn't recommend spending the money here.

We had a lovely night away here with our besties to celebrate my daughter's 16th birthday.

We stayed on 07/04/26 with our two adult children and had a lovely, clean room with two double beds and great facilities, including a nice walk-in shower. The location was brilliant. We chose a package with £25 credit per person for the restaurant, and the food was lovely and good value. Later we used the leisure facilities, which were quiet and immaculate. The staff throughout were lovely, and breakfast had all the usual offerings and was great.

I was meant to stay two nights, but checked out early and moved to another hotel. I've stayed at Village hotels for years, and the Glasgow one is fantastic, so I tried Village Cardiff because I wanted a gym and pool. I won't be back. This was the worst hotel stay I've had in years of weekly travel. The room was dated compared with other Village hotels and wasn't clean. There was other people's hair on the bed and in the bathroom. I was in room 110, and the noise was unbearable, like trying to sleep in a nightclub. A gym class started at 6.30am and sounded as if it was in my room, waking me up and drowning out my TV. I couldn't use the gym or pool because they were far too crowded with kids standing around talking, and the place was a mess with bottles everywhere. Check-in was all self-service, with nobody there to greet or check me in, so it didn't feel welcoming. The evening meal was worse than McDonald's. I ordered the wagu beef burger, but it wasn't a wagu burger. I had one at Village Glasgow the week before, and the difference was night and day. This one was like a £1.99 burger, yet with a bottle of water it cost me £28. I hadn't tried breakfast yet, but after the rest of the stay I was likely to skip it.
