We were warmly welcomed by Janet and shown to a good-sized room with an en suite shower room. The bed was very comfortable, and there was tea, coffee, and complimentary bottled water. This homely Inn is a very old historical building, run by a lovely couple. We stayed two nights. The bar has a good range of real ales. Evening meals are mostly homemade with locally sourced ingredients, and the pub food is good quality at reasonable prices. Breakfast is included, with a quality full English, plenty of toast, tea and coffee, plus cereals and orange juice. Warton is a small village close to Carnforth and the M6, and makes a good base for exploring the area. The George Washington is excellent value, and we look forward to staying again.

A lovely little breath of fresh air, with real hospitality in a comfortable pub. The homemade dinner was great, and the room was quiet and cosy. Breakfast was eggcelent, well worth the visit!

The food and drinks hit the spot, and the pub is clean, relaxed, and friendly. I’ve stopped here a few times on the way home from hikes with a club, and they’re always lovely and accommodating with our group. We arrange around 30 meals in advance by writing down our orders, then order drinks at the bar when we arrive. It’s one of the most efficient group setups I’ve experienced anywhere.

We stopped here for a B&B night to break up a very long journey. It was friendly and comfortable, and breakfast was excellent. We also ate dinner in the bar, which was tasty and good value. The beer was good too!

A proper hidden gem. The room was huge, with a comfy King/Queen bed, an even bigger en-suite, lovely decor, loads of quality storage, and a new bathroom. Nights were surprisingly quiet, and breakfast was fabulous. Tip: I found it through the usual suspects, then booked direct so James & Janet get the full fare.
