I travel around the UK for work and stay in Colchester regularly, and this is the nicest hotel I've found here. I had the Porter room on Friday and Saturday night, the 5th and 6th of December. It was a good-sized double with an en-suite. Danny greeted me on Friday evening and was a lovely bloke, with clear instructions for getting in and out after the front door is closed. He'd also left a bottle of prosecco, which was a lovely touch. There's a decent continental breakfast in the morning, and the hotel has a great Indian restaurant attached. I ate there both nights because the first meal was so good. It has a real family feel, and the location is great. I really recommend it and will be back. Matt.

I've visited three times now, and I'll be back next month. It's my home away from home, even though mine is in West Australia. The hotel has a cosy, quaint feel, with a gorgeous room and a comfortable bed. Breakfast had a lovely selection and the service was just as nice. Basca Indian Restaurant is open Wednesday to Sunday evenings and offers absolute fine dining. The town centre location is great. The front-of-house staff were wonderfully caring, and the people working behind the scenes were lovely too.

Danny welcomed us as soon as we arrived and was so attentive, making the stay feel special. The rooms were spacious, amazing, comfortable, very clean, and had everything we needed. Breakfast had a good range, with something for everyone. We'd happily stay at the Boutique Hotel Colchester again if we're in the area.

The location was good, but we're not coming back. The radiator in our room had apparently been broken for a long time. Staff said the owner usually tried to 'fix it' by wiggling the screws, which gave me the impression he wouldn't pay to have it repaired properly. Instead, we were given a shoddy portable radiator.
