The Marlborough Head Inn

The menu has plenty we'd like to come back and try, but this time we just stopped in for a quick lunch and catch-up. The food was delicious and generous, and service was fast. Walking in to an open fire and a helpful staff member felt so welcoming. It's such a cosy pub, with a lovely atmosphere and brilliant service. One of the cosiest, most welcoming places in the area. Highly recommend, we'll be back.

We'd had some lovely Sunday lunches here before, so coming back today and being so disappointed was a letdown. Prices have jumped to £25 for pork and £27 for beef, and the beef is only served medium rare. We chose pork, which was average at best: fatty and tough, with mushy roast potatoes and awful stuffing. The cook, I wouldn't call them a chef, should be embarrassed. We won't be returning any time soon.

For our anniversary, my wife and I had a really good meal here. The old world charm and just enough background noise made for a perfect atmosphere. We both thought the food was excellent, with lovely quality, portions and flavours. My wife especially liked her Venison Scotch Egg starter, while my steak and frites was delicious and melted in my mouth. We definitely recommend it and will return.

The staff made this visit for me. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and the service was among the best I've had in England. It's a cosy, traditional English pub, and the food was amazing. Try the Sunday roast. I'd highly recommend the restaurant.
