Wivenhoe House Hotel

The vegetarian breakfast was really tasty, and the staff were great throughout. We stayed in the garden suite deluxe room for a lively works Christmas party. It was lovely and spacious, with a bath, shower and all amenities, though it was very warm. The brasserie had a great party atmosphere, and the food was cooked well, with clean plates all round. Staff worked hard and stayed friendly, but extra bar staff would have helped in such a full venue. The dining room chairs were a little uncomfortable, though it didn’t spoil the evening. Lovely place to stay.

We went for a Christmas party and didn’t stay overnight. The food was lovely, and it arrived quickly. I have food allergies, and both the staff and chef were very attentive to them. Everyone was polite, helpful and attentive. Highly recommend for a Christmas meal.

The building was being renovated, so we came in through a side entrance. Reception greeted us warmly and showed us where to go. I was there for a surprise birthday afternoon tea with Prosecco, and the tea was fabulous. All the staff were very attentive.

Dinner at the Park Brasserie was wonderful. The roast beef was perfectly cooked, the generous plate of food was excellent, and the dessert trolley was hard to resist after the hearty main. Breakfast the next morning was just as good, with a good range of hot and cold choices in the same restaurant. We had a really wonderful night and plan to come back. It’s a beautiful hotel, with a lovely old house to look around and a beautiful lounge where guests can relax. We paid for our stay with Tesco vouchers and booked a Superior Balcony Room for one night. Check-in was quick and friendly, and the receptionist walked us to the room. We did find that the electronic lock wouldn’t lock when we tried to leave. We reported it, and someone came fairly quickly, but couldn’t fix it, so we were moved to a Deluxe Room.
