Hensleigh House

We’ve stayed at plenty of hotels called top places over the years, but Hensleigh house would beat them easily. The walk is about 10 minutes to the beach in one direction and 10 minutes into the village the other way. Parking was ample, the room was great, breakfast was great, and everything was very clean. The staff were friendly and pleasant too. What a gem. Hopefully we’ll be back again this year 👍

The lack of an evening restaurant or local place to eat within walking distance is worth factoring in, since you’d need to drive for dinner. Breakfast service was excellent, though I thought the cooked breakfast could be improved. The B&B is quiet, immaculate inside and out, with modern decor and furnishings, and all the amenities were ready. My first-floor room unfortunately had no view, but it didn’t bother me much. Parking was sufficient and arrival was easy. I chose it as a base for visiting Lyme Regis and the area, and getting the local bus to Lyme Regis was easy, with a very short walk to the stop. Coming back, it was also a short walk to Charmouth beach, the Heritage Centre and the South West Coast Path. A lovely B&B if you’re after somewhere quieter.

We really liked the thoughtfully arranged lounge and the 'honesty bar', and the breakfasts were amazing. The hosts were perfect, and the place was beautifully appointed. The beach is about a 5-minute walk away, and it was handy to leave the car in the big car park. Good value for money. We’d happily return, and have already recommended it to friends and family.

On one of our many stays at the Hensleigh, my daughter left an item in the room. She called after we’d left, and the hosts not only found it but drove it over to her at the train station. We offered to pay, but they wouldn’t take our money. That was above and beyond, especially after an already fantastic stay. Everyone is so warm and welcoming, the rooms are beautiful, and the location is unmatched. Our most recent visit didn’t disappoint. Don’t hesitate to stay here. Read the reviews, the consistent 5 stars are there for a reason. Thank you, we’ll be back on our next stay.
