The location is really central, and for the price it’s good value. It’s a comfortable place, even though it doesn’t claim to be a luxury hotel. The pub downstairs was pleasant, with staff who were always smiling, and breakfast was decent.

We dropped in as a group of six adults with three babies, and they fitted us in without any fuss. The servers were lovely, offering extra gravy and vegetables twice. Sunday lunch was £17-19 and really good: tender meat, plenty of veg, plus cauliflower cheese brought out separately for the table. The place was warm and cosy, and the Guinness was excellent.

We found this place by accident, and the Sunday roast turned out to be the best I’ve had in ages. Three courses came to under £30, with generous portions and everything tasting great. They were very helpful about our friend’s dairy intolerance, too, and the staff made us feel welcome. Definitely worth a visit.

We had a group of more than 20, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. We placed our dinner orders each evening for the next night, and the meals were delivered using each person’s first name, so nobody had to remember what they’d ordered. Breakfast was cooked to order and arrived hot, with no food going to waste. They also make great poached eggs. The hotel has been extended, so the rooms above the front are older style and the ones at the back are newer. It’s right in the town centre, with some parking available and the station nearby.

Thirty of us from Fitin30’s ladies gym had a lovely Christmas get-together at The Beaufort yesterday. The portions were huge and there was plenty of veg. Lucy and her team were friendly and attentive, and we all had a great lunch. Thanks to them for a really good time.
