De Vere Latimer Place

Breakfast the next morning was fantastic, with excellent food and service. We were very pleased with our overnight stay at The Latimer, and the team were hospitable throughout. Chris at reception made a particularly good impression by arranging three rooms for our group even though we had only booked two. He was professional and went out of his way to help. The one difficult part was at the spa. An older man, who may have been a member, didn’t seem to understand that someone in our group had additional needs. More patience and consideration, and not shouting at us, would have made things better for everyone. That didn’t change how we felt about the hotel or our stay, and we hope to come back.

The estate is huge and set in beautiful surroundings, and the staff were accommodating throughout the conference. The service was amazing. My room, though, was dark, dingy and very small, with creaky floorboards, and felt quite tired. Others in our party had lovely rooms, so it seems they’re in the middle of modernising. The food was OK, but the choices weren’t the best, and others in the party felt the same. We’ll return, but please improve the food.

We slept peacefully and would stay here again. It was quiet apart from the odd child running up and down the corridor, which didn’t go on for long. There’s free parking outside, and our cosy, clean room had a small outdoor area looking over fields. The staff were very welcoming. We arrived a little early but got a room straight away. The surroundings are beautiful. Food and drinks were a bit expensive, though that wasn’t unexpected for a hotel. My husband wasn’t keen on the black burger bun, but otherwise the meal was nice. Breakfast was lovely, with a good range to choose from.

Dinner was incredibly delicious, though the service was a little slow, perhaps because the hotel seemed short staffed. The bar was somewhat expensive, but the price felt fair for a hotel. The rooms are a bit dated and could use refurbishment, but they were clean and the beds were comfortable. Really nice place, especially for the price. Overall, excellent.
