The outdoor seating is plentiful, and the relaxed space is lovely for having a drink in the fresh air. It’s also dog-friendly, which makes it handy if you’re exploring the countryside with your four-legged companion. The Golden Eagle has the cosy, old-fashioned character of a proper village pub, without feeling overly modernised. It’s set among lovely countryside scenery, a nice stop after a walk or a place to unwind with friends and family. The staff were friendly, attentive and welcoming, and the food and drinks were excellent. The menu has familiar pub favourites with a creative twist, and everything we tried was well presented and full of flavour. You can tell care goes into the cooking and the dining experience. There’s a good choice of drinks too, from a pint or wine to something different. It has that warm, welcoming feel you hope for in a traditional English pub. I’d happily recommend it and return.

The room had a small record player and a nicely varied stack of vinyl, a brilliant idea I’d never come across before. It was clean, tidy and lovely and warm, and we slept well and woke feeling refreshed. My wife and I booked a room at the pub at fairly short notice, and were pleasantly surprised to be allowed up an hour early. Downstairs, the landlord and landlady gave us a warm welcome. We both had a great full English breakfast, and my wife got a vegetarian, gluten-free version too. Amazing, that never happens. We’ll be back, thanks so much.

The cooked breakfast was one of the nicest we’ve ever had, and it’s included. We stayed at The Golden Eagle for our wedding anniversary and my husband’s birthday. The room was beautiful, clean and comfortable, and the record player and vinyl were a great touch. It’s well placed for the bars and restaurants, and just a short walk to the River. The service was friendly. The dark-haired woman, whose name I didn’t get, and Martin made us feel very welcome. We’ll definitely stay again.

Stopped in for a quick pint while passing through. Nice beer, good atmosphere and a really traditional feel. There are a couple of small screens showing sport if that’s your thing, but they’re not intrusive. The other side of the pub has no screens if you’d rather avoid them.

The room was lovely, and breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious. It’s a really nice pub with a cool interior and a great vibe, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Great location, with parking just across the road. I’d highly recommend it.
