My wife and I had lunch here for my 80th birthday. The liver was cooked just how I like it, pink, and my wife enjoyed her fish and chips. This was only our second visit to the pub, but I can heartily recommend it.

We spent several days at the Bullshead in May and found it a lovely place with lovely owners. Try eating there, and if you get the chance, the Sunday roast was amazing. You do need to book for the roast. We’d come back.

The atmosphere was nice, and the young man serving us was lovely. We visited on our way back from the Roman palace and both enjoyed our meals at the time. Unfortunately, though, the gnocchi arrabbiata made one of us very sick. This was on Valentine’s Day, and I wonder how many others had the same experience. Edit: The owner’s response to a real experience was funny, given how polite my review was after getting food poisoning.

We all enjoyed the roast, including our twin toddlers. The portions of meat were generous, the gravy, potatoes and vegetables were delicious, and the Yorkshire puddings were lovely. The service was amazing. We’ll be back!

The food was very good when I went out for dinner with friends last night. My Pan Fried Lamb's Liver & Smoked Crispy Bacon was delicious, and we enjoyed the desserts too. The service was disappointing, though. We expected to finish with tea or coffee, but at 9.30 pm we were told everything had been switched off and no hot drinks were available. It felt like the staff were keen to close up and go home. Food may stop at 9 pm, but the pub is advertised as open until 11 pm and should be able to serve hot drinks until then.
