The Vestry

The cooked-to-order breakfast was delicious, and the staff gave us a warm welcome. Our room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed, good-quality towels and plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits. It’s a modern hotel above the Room 21 pub. There’s no lift, though it’s only one flight of stairs and staff helped with our luggage. Light came through the unlined curtains and made sleeping difficult, and anyone could walk upstairs from the pub through a door without swipe entry. The internet didn’t work, though I managed to use the pub Wi-Fi. There was no evening meal option. I’d have given five stars otherwise.

Our plans changed after we booked a night, so we had to cancel. Since it was Goodwood Festival of Speed weekend, the hotel had asked for a 50% deposit, which was fine. I want to praise the customer service I received throughout the refund process. The person who called to arrange it was polite and understanding, a real credit to the company. We’ll definitely book another time.

Had a brilliant night, dancing until two in the morning. The bar staff were excellent and the door staff were respectful. So much fun, highly recommend.

Right in the heart of Chichester, with friendly staff and an excellent hotel. Check whether there’s live music that evening if noise might bother you.
