Crown Inn

We've stayed here before, but this visit was for the sad occasion of a dear friend's unexpected funeral nearby. We came from home in Dorset, and Kate and the team were so kind and friendly. The place has lovely character and was spotless, with a perfect room and parking right by it. We enjoyed a snack at lunch, dinner and breakfast. Kate even got the chef to make me a dinner dish from the lunch special. She hardly went home! The team were professional and so engaging. Kate also reminded us to get a loyalty card and newsletter, so we'll hear about your other places too. We'll be back. Jx

Our room was a good size and stayed nice and warm, which we appreciated in winter. It would be handy to have slippers for walking on the carpet. The Crown Inn is well placed between the Cotswolds and Bath, with plenty of parking. We spent one night here, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious and carefully prepared. The service was warm and attentive from start to finish.

We'd driven past the Crown Inn so many times on trips to Bath and Gloucestershire and kept saying we'd stop for a meal. For my fiancé's birthday, I finally booked us a room and dinner. We arrived around 3pm and got a cosy, comfortable courtyard room. Fresh milk in a flask was a lovely touch, and there were tea and coffee, cookies, a TV with internet channels, a radio and books. It even had a bath and shower. We'd recently paid a lot for a spa hotel in Bath and didn't get internet TV, fresh milk, biscuits or a radio there, and the bath didn't work properly either. We sat on the benches outside with drinks from the bar while the weather held. Dinner was delicious: cauliflower soup with onion bhaji to start, then two perfectly cooked rump steaks. We were too full for pudding, though they looked lovely. Despite being close to the main road, we heard no traffic noise and slept well in the very comfortable bed. At breakfast I had a full English and my fiancé chose eggs Benedict, with fresh juice, tea and coffee. Online check-in and checkout via a link were easy, and meal service was quick and efficient. We'd happily recommend the Crown Inn and make time to return.

The restaurant served fresh, high-quality food, and the staff were superbly friendly. We had a spacious, nicely decorated superior double with everything we needed, plus a lovely en-suite with a bath and a powerful shower. It's handy for the M4 and Bath, though there is some road noise from the A46.
