The Hampshire Hog was a memorable stay, and I’d gladly book it again when I’m back this way. I travel around the country a lot and have had my share of “Fawlty Towers” places, so I was genuinely impressed. The reception and bar staff were lovely, the food was lovely too, and the rooms were amazing. Heated bathroom floors were a first for me. I’d booked rooms for two colleagues as well, and they’d happily stay again too. Thanks for a lovely visit.

The one thing to watch is check-in, which is only available until 21:30. I nearly got caught out by that. Otherwise, at £100 a night, this is really good value. The rooms have high-end fittings and are exceptionally well equipped, and breakfast was so good I’d happily pay £20 for it on its own. The free round of drinks on arrival was appreciated too. Last time I was in the area I paid £90 for a Premier Inn or Travelodge, and this place is vastly better and just down the road.

We enjoyed the roast beef and roast chicken, and the pub food was good. Since we stayed over the weekend, we saw how popular Sunday lunch is. This is a pub with rooms, rather than a modern hotel. The bar is cosy by the log fire, though the three doors to the large car park let in a draught, which could be felt in other parts of the bar and hotel while it was freezing outside. Downstairs rooms are available, there’s no lift upstairs, and dogs are welcome.

We’ve just found a new favourite. The food was superb, the service amazing, and the restaurant had such a beautiful feel to it. And that real fire scent drifting through the air was a lovely bonus. Divine 🙌

Rachel deserves a special mention. She went above and beyond, with such kind, friendly energy and an eye for detail that made the visit feel perfect. The whole team made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, taking care of everything with warmth and genuine care. The hotel was beautiful and relaxing too. We had a wonderful stay and can’t wait to come back. Highly recommended for anyone after a truly special getaway.
