The Leather Bottle

The Charles Dickens pictures and memorabilia made the inn more interesting, and we had a lovely evening. Our restaurant meal was really nice, with friendly, helpful staff. The room was spacious, warm, and had all the facilities we needed for our overnight stay. We'd visit again. If you come by car, remember to enter your registration when you arrive to avoid parking fines.

The food was very nice, good quality, and nicely presented, though quite pricey. The pub and hotel look attractive from outside, with ivy covering the walls, and it's cosy inside too. Well worth a visit. I didn't stay at the hotel, so can't comment on the rooms.

It's a cute pub with a pretty beer garden, but the staff came across as really unfriendly and dismissive. There's one fairly young barmaid in particular who is abrupt and makes you feel unwelcome. Customer service goes a long way, and she was just mean. Shame, but I probably won't go again.

The weather spoiled our family walk last Friday (31st October), so we called The Leather Bottle instead and explained we were six adults, two children, an infant, and two dogs. They welcomed us warmly and were patient and attentive while we got organised, chose drinks, and decided on food. There was a good food selection, including a children's menu, and everything arrived promptly. They also brought water for the dogs and provided facilities for feeding the baby. It made for a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. Many thanks.
