The windows were in awful shape, cracked, single-pane, and seemingly painted shut for years. The room smelled musty and had no heat apart from a little portable heater. I’d booked two twin beds on the first floor, but was put in a second-floor room with a large double and a single. That small bed was really uncomfortable, and even the coffee cup was dirty. After I complained, I was moved to a worse room: something had spilled on the bathroom floor, making it dangerously slippery. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. I can’t see how it got such good reviews.

We had a really good stay, and the garden and views were lovely. The food was brilliant, the staff were great, the bar team especially friendly, and parking was easy. Our room was comfortable, though the decor could do with an update, so that’s why I’d give it four stars. Nothing seemed too much trouble. We’d definitely come back.

The owner made us feel so welcome and was genuinely ready to help with anything. It’s a lovely family-run place, and we’ll definitely stay again. Our bedroom was clean and tidy, with stunning countryside views, and the Full English breakfast came out piping hot, fresh, and tasty.

I’m not usually keen on a Sunday roast, mostly because of the meat, but the tender, soft cuts here changed my mind. You can pick two meats, and there was a lovely range of vegetables and sides with them. My partner and I were both pleased with the food and service, and we’ll be back.

I only messaged to ask about a possible booking and was surprised by how dismissive the reply felt. The staff came across as obstructive and frankly rude, even though I hadn’t stayed there. They might want to rethink working in hospitality.
