It’s well placed on North Hill, right in the centre and within walking distance of Colchester’s attractions. I had a comfortable bed, and the staff were very accommodating. There’s a good pan-Asian restaurant downstairs too. I’d definitely stay here again.

We hired the bar and conservatory for my daughter’s 18th birthday, and the venue was perfect. The staff were extremely helpful, and the pan-Asian buffet food was very tasty. A few family members stayed at the hotel too. They found the beds comfortable, the showers good and breakfast great. Highly recommended!

It was hard to find the hotel entrance because there wasn’t a clear sign. The room felt surprisingly small for the price, although the bathroom was huge. I also struggled to switch on the lamps, so some instructions would help. The pillows could be more comfortable, and it would be really useful to have sockets by the bed. There was only one by the desk.

The room was wonderful in every other way, but the night was rough because of the poor soundproofing and the very noisy, inconsiderate people in the room below. With better soundproofing, I’d have given it the maximum stars.

We stayed the night before my son’s 11plus exam at Colchester Grammar school. The room was a bit small but clean, and the receptionist was helpful and caring when we arrived.
