I only popped in for a quick coffee, and the two people who greeted me were all smiles. They were happy to let me just have coffee, but seeing the breakfast other customers had ordered changed my mind, so I ordered some too. It was fresh and tasty, and £10.99 felt fair for the quality and service. A really good visit.

The room was great, but breakfast was such a letdown that I wouldn't come back. The cooked breakfast took ages to arrive and wasn't self-serve like at other Premier Inns we've stayed at. The continental buffet was empty even though the restaurant wasn't busy, and we had to keep asking staff to refill it. When bread finally came out, it was frozen solid, so we had to defrost it in the toaster. The yoghurt had been left uncovered and unrefrigerated and tasted awful. Juice hadn't been topped up, and when the coffee machine stopped working, none of the staff seemed to know how to fix it. The hotel itself was good, but that breakfast really spoiled things.

We had a really relaxing time here. The food was delicious, and everyone on staff was so kind to me and my wife. It felt comfortable and welcoming, and we loved it. I'd happily come back for breakfast or dinner. Well done, everyone! 👏👏👏

The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful, and the location made getting around easy. It's close to Colchester's main train station and not far from town, with plenty of buses if you don't feel like walking. The A12 is nearby too. It would be a handy place to stay for summer concerts at The Castle Park. Highly recommend.

Slept really well in a spacious, comfortable room. Everything was very clean.
