A great spot for a short break, with an excellent location, rooms and breakfast. There’s also a great little bar downstairs, and everything you need is here.

The breakfast was generous and cooked well, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The location is right in the centre, and the rooms are a good size with both a double and a single bed. But those pillows were like bricks, the hardest I’ve ever come across. If the bedding were upgraded, this would be a hard little place to beat 😊

The location is great and the bar is lovely, but the lass working there had a really awful attitude and expression. Not a smile or kind word from her. It put me off coming back. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen staff seem so unhappy.

We were very impressed by the self-catering apartment we stayed in. It was amazingly clean and well equipped, and on most nights there was no noise from the bar or the other rooms. There was a little sound from the bar on Saturday, when they had live music, but it wasn’t intrusive at all. Highly recommended.

We were staying nearby and didn’t know the town well. After trying a few bars without knowing where to settle, we came in here. The young woman behind the bar made us feel welcome, there was a big fire burning, and they were happy for us to bring the dog, so the choice was easy. We spent a relaxed Friday evening there, then returned after staff mentioned Saturday music. Starting at 1930 was a good idea for people who don’t want a late night. The singer was great and held onto that lovely Saturday afternoon feel for a while. We meant to stay briefly, but watched the whole set and went for a late dinner afterwards. A great pub find, and we’ll know where to go if we’re up this way again. Say hi to Lenny, who welcomed us both evenings.
