The staff were really friendly and welcoming, and the food was a good standard with a reasonable choice. Our room was a good size and looked out over the harbour, with great views. Parking is in a council car park a few minutes' walk away.

The food was wonderful at this lovely old hotel on the coast, though the rooms need refurbishment. The bar is small, with only 15 seats. The hotel is closing in October and reopening as a spa hotel.

We couldn't sleep properly and woke up exhausted and angry after being disturbed at least 15 times by people walking, using taps, or flushing toilets. The walls were so thin there was no noise insulation, and our own toilet wouldn't flush. The room was dusty, tiny, unbearably hot, and had no air conditioning or Wi-Fi. Nothing seemed to work. We had to leave the window open all night, but it faced a pub that stayed loud until very late. The bed linen was dirty. For £140 a night, this was awful. Breakfast was another disaster: dry eggs, burnt bacon, a greasy, stale mess, and terrible tea and coffee. There was no proper latte, only watery machine “coffee” that barely resembled coffee. We'd already paid for breakfast, so we asked reception about alternatives. No help or refund was offered. The receptionist seemed nice enough but didn't resolve anything. The staff were unprofessional and unhelpful, and they don't care and are impossible to reason with. The town itself is super pretty, which made the horrible impression from the hotel even worse. We had to check out early and left tired, disappointed, and feeling ripped off. I don't recommend this hotel to anyone.

We were there in April 25 with Caledonian and arrived late because of the weather over the moors. It was our first bus tour, so we didn't know what to expect, but the staff were great and couldn't help enough. They stayed behind in the pouring rain to get our luggage into the hotel. The food was good, though nothing special, and there was lots of variety at breakfast. Shame it's not on Caledonian's list anymore, as we'd go again for a nice few days.
